Why Volunteer? 

     Volunteers play an important role in helping communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. During times of crisis, trained volunteers can provide critical support to individuals, families, and emergency response organizations. Their contributions can help communities become more prepared and resilient, making them safer and better able to handle emergencies!

     Volunteer opportunities vary based on your interests, skills, and location. Understand the Commitment

  • Review the time, location, and responsibilities associated with the opportunity.

  • Make sure the commitment fits your availability and that you can reliably participate.

Complete Required Training​​

  • Some disaster response roles require training, certifications, or orientation before you can participate.

  • Check the organization's requirements and complete any training before volunteering.​

Know your Role

  • Understand what tasks you are expected and qualified to perform.

  • Do not perform tasks that you are not trained or qualified to handle.​

Prepare in Advance​

  • Some organizations encourage volunteers to register and complete training before an emergency occurs.

  • Keep your contact information and any required certifications up to date.
